Job Summary
Coach individual participants in skills necessary for successful performance and provide a positive learning environment for athletes. Plan and schedule a regular practice program in season, manage athlete behavior during training and events, and assume primary responsibility for field or court preparation. Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, and facilities while enforcing discipline and sportsmanship. Maintain complete and accurate records, including attendance forms and accident reports, and oversee safety conditions of the assigned sport area. Assist the athletic director in scheduling contests and recommend equipment purchases.
Required Qualifications
- Expressed interest in athletics
- Experience in coaching
- Physical ability to perform essential functions
- Available to work during assigned hours
- Understanding of and agreement with the District's goals of an athletic program
- Knowledge of coaching techniques and human behavior
- Knowledge of the State, Federal and School Board Policies and Regulations regarding student conduct and appropriate disciplinary action
- Familiar with the care and treatment of athletic injuries
- Certification by the Arizona Department of Education
- Completion of NFHS Coaches Course including Concussion Course
- First Aid and CPR Certification
- Valid Driver Licence
- 39-month Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
