Job Summary
Assistant Girls' Basketball Coach at a private boarding school (Darrow School) providing support for the girls' basketball program, including coordinating practices, scheduling, recruitment collaboration with admissions, team logistics, and ensuring program goals align with athletic department objectives. Role may include on-campus housing for the right candidate and requires effectively managing athlete development, discipline, and communication with students, parents, and school staff. Travel to events and driving flexibility are needed; housing is provided for numerous positions on campus.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 2-4 years of experience coaching basketball at the high school level is required (college coaching/playing experience preferred)
- Must possess effective coaching techniques and skills
- Must possess knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport
- Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, governing organizations (NEPSAC), opponents, officials, staff, parents, and students
- Must possess the ability to relate to students and to teach them on and off the court
- Willingness to drive to and from events
- Commitment to the 24 hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week life of a boarding school
- An educational philosophy consistent with the mission of the school
