Assistant Warden I

Directly supervise the Chief of Security, Maintenance Supervisor, Mailroom Coordinator, Programs Manager, Classification, Laundry Coordinator, Grievance Investigator, and Manager. Plan, coordinate, and direct total administrative programmatic activities, including developing departmental budgets, implementing revised security policies, and overseeing disciplinary and grievance procedures. Provide staff training, evaluate performance, and maintain constant vigilance of employees and detainees through staff assignments. Monitor the staff selection process to ensure adherence to laws and regulations, select qualified applicants, and oversee preparation of detainee reports for the classification committee. Promote positive social skills by modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate conduct is observed. Maintain accountability of staff, detainees, and property while adhering to safety practices. Respond rapidly to security and medical codes, transport offenders via company vehicles, and perform physical tasks including climbing stairs and occasional lifting up to 100 lbs. Perform other duties as assigned within capabilities determined by management.
