Job Summary
Assistant Volleyball Coach at Steamboat Springs Middle School for the 2026 season (Aug 17–Oct 3). Responsibilities include communicating with the Athletic/Activities Director, updating rosters, ensuring alignment with district policies, maintaining CHSAA coaching registration and first aid certification, and passing the CHSAA coaching test annually. The role requires ethical, professional conduct, supervision of students from departure to pickup, care and security of equipment, adherence to uniform/equipment check-out procedures, and inventory and storage of uniforms/equipment within two weeks after season end. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work independently are essential, along with the ability to manage large groups of students and respond to potential conflicts. The position is not benefit-eligible and requires successful background clearance.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Previous Volleyball coaching experience strongly preferred
- Experience in competitive sports preferred
- Ability to maintain discipline with large groups of students
- Ability to work independently without direct supervision
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with students, staff, co-workers, administrators and parents
- Physically able to perform the following on a daily basis: lift items weighing 50 pounds from floor level to four feet; stand for long periods; withstand outdoor elements; manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; maintain confidentiality
