Job Summary

Assistant Vice President, Plumbing Engineer for Buildings at WSP in Houston, TX. Provide technical leadership and subject matter expertise for the design and delivery of plumbing systems across building and infrastructure projects. Lead multi-disciplinary project teams in planning, design, and coordination of plumbing, fire protection, and fluid flow systems. Oversee engineering reviews of design documents, specifications, and construction deliverables to ensure compliance with codes and standards. Manage project scope, schedule, budgets, and deliverables with a focus on high-quality, timely execution. Support business development through client relationship management, proposal development, and identifying new opportunities. Mentor and develop junior and mid-level engineers, fostering collaboration and continuous learning. Collaborate with architects, engineers, and stakeholders to deliver integrated design solutions across sectors such as commercial, healthcare, higher education, and mission-critical facilities. Ensure adherence to quality, safety, and regulatory standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plumbing Engineering, or closely related discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • 10+ years of relevant post-education experience in plumbing for building systems engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license desired but not required (multi-state preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of plumbing system design, including domestic water, sanitary waste and vent, stormwater, lab gases, and specialty systems
  • Proven experience leading projects and working across multi-disciplinary teams
  • Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships and support business development activities
  • Strong understanding of applicable codes, regulations, and industry standards
  • Experience with design tools such as Revit, AutoCAD, and BIM platforms
