Assistant Vice President of Human Resources & Organizational Development

Job Summary
Lead the university's senior human resources function by providing strategic oversight of all HR operations, including compensation, benefits, leave, disciplinary matters, and performance management. Collaborate with academic and administrative leadership to align staffing, recruiting, and retention strategies with institutional goals while ensuring compliance with federal and state employment laws. Administer organizational effectiveness initiatives, conduct research on HR trends, and utilize data systems to drive decision-making and improve service delivery. Guide complex employee relations investigations and disputes, partner on workforce planning, and foster an inclusive campus culture that supports faculty, staff, and student employees.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, Higher Education Administration, or a related field
- Minimum of 10-15 years of progressively responsible HR experience, including leadership of multiple functional areas
- Working knowledge of Title VII, Title IX regulations
- Knowledge of project management principles, practices, techniques, and tools
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage empathetically, credibly and effectively with senior leadership while fostering trust and collaboration
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey policies clearly, address concerns with credibility, and facilitate organizational change, while presenting effectively to audiences ranging from small groups to large institutional gatherings
- Must be willing to contribute actively to the mission of the University as well as show respect for the Catholic and Assumptionist identity of Assumption University
