Assistant Vice President Electrical Engineer

Job Summary
This role involves providing high-level electrical engineering leadership on multi-disciplinary transportation, infrastructure, industrial and commercial capital projects from design through construction close-out. You will develop drawings and specifications for power distribution, fire alarm, and lighting/lighting controls; perform electrical calculations (loads, short-circuit, protective device coordination, one-line diagrams, protective relaying); prepare technical reports and present findings to clients and stakeholders; interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients; collaborate with engineers, planners, and infrastructure authorities on funded improvement projects and business development; stay current with electrical engineering techniques and adhere to codes and the company Code of Conduct. The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, a professional engineer license, 10+ years of relevant experience, and proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, SKM/ETAP, and related tools; travel may be required. Preferred qualifications include a Master’s Degree and experience with public agencies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
- 10+ years of relevant post-education experience as an electrical engineer providing design deliverables for capital projects including construction administration
- Engineer license required
- Extensive knowledge of local, state, and national building and energy codes
- Demonstrates competence and comprehensive knowledge concerning adjacent disciplines such as electrical engineering, SCADA, and telecom
- Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience
- Demonstrated high-level of self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment
- Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Works independently with minimal oversight and provides guidance and leadership to junior team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC
- Highly proficient with technical writing, office automation, discipline-specific design software (i.e., AutoCAD, Revit, SKM/ETAP, AGI32/Visual, etc.), technology, math principles, spreadsheets, and tools
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
- Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements
- Master’s Degree in Engineering is a plus
- Experience with Public Agencies is a plus
