Job Summary
Assistant Varsity Boys Basketball Coach is responsible for coaching, character development and providing direction to student athletes to develop skill, discipline, sportsmanship, and teamwork. The role includes planning and directing practices, conducting tryouts, organizing travel for games, maintaining team rules and eligibility, and ensuring a safe, supportive environment. Requires 3 practices per week and 2 games per week, with frequent local travel (50-70%). Must follow the Athletic Director’s guidance, complete required safety training (NFHS Learn, CPR/First Aid), and demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, reliability, punctuality, and the ability to work independently and with a small team. Location is in California, with a seasonal, part-time schedule totaling up to 17.5 hours per week for a 10-week season; hourly rate of $15, totaling approximately $2,625 for the season if all hours are worked.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2-3 years of coaching experience in high school or club basketball
- Valid CA license (Class C) and current insurance coverage
- Safe driving record

- 2 to 3 years of High School or Club Basketball coaching experience encouraged
- Bachelor's degree preferred
