Job Summary

Represent the Choctaw Nation in criminal and juvenile cases within the Choctaw Nation District Court. Facilitate communication with professionals in the legal community, law enforcement, child welfare agencies, and federal, state, and local officials to prosecute actions within the jurisdiction. Maintain inter-departmental relations with the judicial department, law enforcement, state offices, and other legal departments. Confer with the Lead Prosecutor and other prosecutors regarding case prosecution. Assist Choctaw Nation Lighthorse Police, Indian Child Welfare workers, and Office of Juvenile Affairs representatives. Perform other tasks as assigned. Work Monday through Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm, reporting to the Lead Tribal Prosecutor.

Required Qualifications

  • Juris Doctorate from accredited law school
  • Licensed to practice law by a State within the United States
  • Experience with criminal, juvenile delinquent, and deprived case procedures
  • Three [3] years of experience as a prosecuting attorney
  • Courtroom experience in criminal or juvenile matters
