Assistant Track & Field Coach - Throws

Job Summary
Develop and implement annual training plans for shot put, discus, hammer throw, and javelin while providing individualized technical instruction and event-specific strength and conditioning guidance. Plan and supervise daily practices, monitoring athlete development and performance. Recruit qualified student-athletes who can succeed both athletically and academically, and manage the throws equipment inventory and facility maintenance. Assist with meet management, travel, and team operations as assigned. Promote academic achievement, personal development, and a positive team culture among student-athletes while maintaining compliance with NCAA, Missouri Valley Conference, and University policies.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree
- Previous collegiate coaching experience
- Experience coaching all four throwing events (shot put, discus, hammer throw, and javelin)
- Demonstrated success in recruiting and developing collegiate throwers
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)

- Background checks may include criminal history, motor vehicle reports, prior employment verification, and personal/professional references
- If applicable to the position, they will also include credit history
- Background checks will be conducted on all final candidates for employment
Desired Qualifications
- Coaching or competitive experience in the throwing events
- Excellent communication, organizational and leadership skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with other event coaches and staff
