Assistant Track and Field Coach (Part Time)

Job Summary
Assist the Head Coach and Associate Head Coach in planning and leading track and field practices for both men's and women's teams, providing instruction in running technique, endurance training, speed work, and event-specific development including jumps. Help evaluate athlete performance to design individualized training programs that enhance skill development and competitive readiness while ensuring student-athletes maintain high levels of discipline, focus, and sportsmanship. Mentor athletes in spiritual growth by leading team devotions, prayer time, and integrating biblical principles into coaching practices to foster a Christ-centered environment. Support recruitment efforts by identifying and engaging prospective student-athletes with high school coaches and athletic clubs, and assist with budgeting, scheduling, travel planning, and compliance with university and NAIA rules. Work up to 18 hours per week to help maintain team communication and contribute to alumni engagement and community outreach.
Required Qualifications
- A personal faith in Jesus Christ
- A commitment to living out and mentoring others in the Christian faith
- Bachelor's degree
- Relevant coaching experience (at least 1-2 years) in track & field
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification
- Willingness to obtain CPR/AED and First Aid certification
- A personal relationship with Jesus Christ
- An active Christian commitment
- A theology that supports the values and mission of Cornerstone University core commitments
- An ability to affirm and sign the university's doctrinal statement, 'The Cornerstone Confession'
- Faithfully attending an evangelical and biblical church whose core beliefs and practices are consistent with Cornerstone's confession and core commitments
