Job Summary
The Assistant to General Counsel is responsible for drafting indemnities, contracts, and various transactional documents, reviewing vendor agreements and third-party contracts, and supporting company regulatory compliance. The role includes preparing draft responses to consumer complaints, conducting legal research, managing the General Counsel's calendar, and reviewing litigation filings. The ideal candidate has strong legal research skills, proficiency in office software, and is capable of maintaining professionalism and a positive company image.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA-Approved law school preferred
- Licensed to practice by Texas State Bar preferred
Desired Qualifications
- Non-Attorneys: Paralegal experience in drafting corporate and/or transactional documents
- Legal research experience in support of litigation
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and legal research tools such as Westlaw (or equivalent)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong legal research and analytical abilities
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‐paced, deadline‐driven environment.
