Job Summary
Assistant Technical Manager - Design & Drafting role focused on creating detailed technical drawings from engineer inputs, supporting design development for substations and transmission projects, ensuring standards compliance, and preparing construction and as-built drawings using AutoCAD (with MicroStation/PLS CADD and Revits as assets). Responsibilities include assisting Engineers on projects by refining preliminary designs into detailed drawings, assembling Issued for Construction documents and drawing packages, supporting required approvals and sign-offs, reviewing field marks to develop As-Built packages, and attending occasional project site visits to gather design details. Requires a drafting diploma or equivalent experience with 10–12 years of high voltage substation drafting experience; proficient in AutoCAD, MicroStation, Office; familiarity with Inventor/Revit and PLS CADD is advantageous; strong analytical and time-management skills; broad knowledge of electrical/civil design. Hybrid and remote work options are offered, with relocation assistance available. Tools and standards awareness along with the ability to produce compliant drawings per drafting codes and standards are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Drafting diploma from a recognized technical institute or equivalent work experience
- 10 to 12 years strong experience as a drafter in high voltage transmission and Distribution substation physical layout and section drawings
- Proficient in AutoCAD, MicroStation; knowledge of Inventor/Revit
- Knowledge of PLS CADD or similar design software would be an asset
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and time
- General knowledge of electrical/civil design
