Job Summary

Lead and motivate a skilled residential and outreach team to deliver high-quality care for children with learning disabilities, complex health needs, and behaviours of distress. Provide regular supervision, performance management, and development support while taking day-to-day responsibility for the home or service area when required. Participate in care planning, statutory reviews, safeguarding processes, and multi-agency decision-making to ensure children's health, safety, and emotional wellbeing remain central. Promote the voice of the child and work in partnership with families, social care, education, and health professionals to provide integrated support. Support quality assurance, reflective practice, and compliance with legislation, Ofsted requirements, and Norfolk County Council policies. Participate in the out-of-hours rota and work evenings, weekends, and bank holidays as part of the service rotation.

Required Qualifications

  • A relevant professional qualification, such as Social Work, DipSW, CQSW, nursing, OT or equivalent, alongside relevant management training or qualification
  • Significant experience of childcare work, including experience within residential, short breaks, outreach, disability or children's social care services
  • Knowledge of childcare legislation, safeguarding, child protection guidance and good practice in residential care
  • Experience of leading, supervising, motivating and developing staff
  • The ability to build positive relationships with children and young people and act as a calm, consistent and trusted role model
  • Strong communication, organisation and decision-making skills, with the ability to chair meetings and manage competing priorities
  • Confidence in working under pressure, using sound judgement and maintaining high standards of practice
  • Suitable transport
  • The flexibility to work as part of the service rota, including occasional evenings, weekends, bank holidays and out-of-hours responsibilities
