Assistant Teaching Professor in Physics

Job Summary

Teach engaging, interactive physics courses for majors, minors, and non-majors while modernizing existing course materials and developing new curricula tailored to changing student needs. Contribute to the NYIT community through service activities including student academic advising, mentoring, and participation in department, college, and school-wide committees. The teaching load is 21 credit hours per year. The initial appointment is for two years, with subsequent reappointments for three-year contracts followed by renewable five-year contracts, with a possibility of promotion to Associate Teaching Professor and Teaching Professor.

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Physics or a closely related field by the time of appointment
  • Demonstrated success in undergraduate teaching
  • A commitment to educating students from different backgrounds

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience creating and teaching advanced undergraduate laboratory courses
  • Experience and future plans for meaningfully involving undergraduate students in physics research
