• •Completed High School
• •Early Childhood Education Diploma, registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators of Ontario
• •Current First Aid and CPR Certification
• •Provide an original copy of a Criminal Background Check with vulnerable sector screening that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army
• •Proof of Immunization
• •A letter from a licensed medical doctor confirming that the candidate is medically fit to work in a child care centre
• •Minimum of three (3) months of prior related experience, including working with children in a childcare environment
• •Working knowledge of the CCEYA
• •Physical coordination and agility in order to lead games and activities for children
• •Ability to lift/carry children, stand for extended periods of time and work at the height of children
• •Strong oral and written communication skills
• •Ability to exercise good judgement

• •Must be able to safely escort children to and from school and on trips or walks outside the centre
• •Must be available for shifts ranging from 3 to 8.5 hours
• •Must be available for a casual/on call position with no set hours per week
• •Must be able to work at The Learning Corner Child Care Centre, 3199 Lauzon Road, Windsor, ON N8T 2Z7
• •Must be able to work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army's health and safety policies and procedures
• •Must be able to participate in regular fire drills and other emergency procedures
• •Must be able to participate in probationary and annual performance appraisal process
• •Must be able to participate in ongoing professional development and attend/maintain all mandatory training
• •Must be able to participate as an active and responsible team member in all work groups
• •Must be able to represent the organization in a professional and engaging manner
• •Must be able to work with the Supervisory staff to ensure that the program operates at all times in compliance with all child care licensing standards, contractual, legal and internal accreditation requirements
• •Must be able to ensure full compliance with child protection legislation and intervene when necessary
• •Must be able to establish and maintain regular communication with parents
• •Must be able to ensure that all information about children, family, staff, visitors, and volunteers are strictly confidential
• •Must be able to ensure that activity records and statistics are stored in a secure location
• •Must be able to assist with effective risk management; monitor food safety, medication storage/disbursement, allergies and facility cleanliness/maintenance
• •Must be able to provide emergency first aid and complete reports and file incident reports as required
• •Must be able to recognize and respond to the needs of each child by using developmentally appropriate teaching and child behavior management techniques
• •Must be able to assist in orientating new children and families; provides on-going feedback on child's development and behaviour
• •Must be able to participate in special events put on by the Child Care Centre
• •Must be able to assist in the planning, preparing and implementing stimulating, age-appropriate activities that encourage children's creativity and learning and promote each child's social, emotional, cognitive and physical development
• •Must be able to Role models appropriate behaviours and attitudes supporting the mission of The Learning Corner
• •Must be able to Attend and participate actively in all program/centre, staff, parental or other meetings as required
• •Must be able to Share responsibility for maintaining program equipment in good repair; assist with toy/equipment disinfecting
• •Must be able to Share responsibility for maintaining the play environments and storage areas in an organized and clutter-free condition
• •Must be able to Engage in positive collaboration with the other programs and staff of the Centre in coordinating the effective use of equipment, facilities and personnel
