Job Summary
Assistant Teacher for Summer Rising programs in multiple DOE school buildings in Brooklyn. Assist lead teacher in implementing hands-on, multi-sensory, and project-based lessons for 20-30 students, develop and plan lessons including field trips, participate in curriculum and professional development trainings, use creative teaching strategies to enhance literacy, social-emotional learning, and STEAM, help plan culminating events, engage with parents, supervise students during activities and transitions, assist with preparation of activities and materials, participate in agency-wide groups, and support development of funding proposals as required.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma required
- Some college preferred
- Experience working with youth in an afterschool or summer camp environment
- Must be flexible to work across all afterschool programs to provide coverage when needed
- Must pass a background check with NYC and NYS Department of Health and NYC Department of Education
