Job Summary
Assistant Teacher position in St. Ann Center's childcare program. Responsibilities include providing daily care and developmentally appropriate activities for children from 6 weeks to 100+, ensuring safety and wellbeing through tasks such as napping, feeding, diapering, and toileting; communicating with parents and coordinating with Lead Teacher, other staff, seniors and volunteers; modeling the Center's philosophy of developmentally appropriate child care; collaborating with team members to problem-solve and maintain program quality; fulfilling required training and licensing education; and meeting physical demands (lifting, standing, bending) with flexibility to adapt to children’s needs. Must support day-to-day operations, participate in play experiences that facilitate learning, and adhere to Center policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Be able to lift and hold young children up to ~25 pounds
- Stand and walk for long periods; interact with children at their level
- Provide a model of excellence and leadership as an educator in the center
- Adjust daily care to children's individual needs
- Be creative and flexible
- Complete required training within specified timelines
- Maintains in-service and continuing education as mandated by State Licensing Regulations
