Job Summary
Guide routines like feeding, diapering, and rest with intention while sparking curiosity through music, storytelling, and sensory play using The Creative Curriculum®. Build secure relationships by observing toddler cues and documenting developmental milestones to inform lesson planning and partner with families via Brightwheel. Maintain an engaging, safe classroom environment that supports exploration and individualized learning while adhering to NAEYC practices and OCFS regulations. Collaborate with co-teachers to facilitate cognitive, language, and social-emotional development, ensuring the classroom remains inclusive and mission-driven. Work Monday through Friday in an 8-hour shift, lifting up to 40 pounds as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Minimum of 1 year experience working with toddlers in a licensed early childhood setting
- Must meet all NYS OCFS licensing requirements including: Fingerprinting/background clearance
- Must meet all NYS OCFS licensing requirements including: Medical and TB screening
- Must meet all NYS OCFS licensing requirements including: Pediatric First Aid & CPR (or willingness to complete upon hire)
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, using proper grammar and vocabulary
- Ability to speak and hear
- Ability to use close vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception along with the ability to focus vision
- Ability to use strength to lift 40 pounds
- Ability to sit, stand and walk for required periods of time
- Ability to reach with hands and arms and use hands and fingers to handle objects and operate tools, computers, and/or controls
- Ability to function in a workplace that is usually moderately quiet but that can be noisy at times
- Ability to work effectively within a diverse team and with families from a wide range of backgrounds
- Knowledge of child development, curriculum planning
- Good communication skills
- Good interpersonal skills
Desired Qualifications
- Toddler/Toddler CDA credential
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field
