Job Summary
The Assistant Teacher serves in a Head Start classroom, collaborating with the teacher and families to support child development and learning. Key responsibilities include implementing a child-centered curriculum, monitoring children's progress, observing behaviors, providing positive guidance, and ensuring classroom safety. The role requires strong communication skills, computer literacy, and the ability to develop positive relationships with children and families. A CDA credential or relevant Bachelor’s degree is required, along with CPR and First Aid certification within the first year.
Required Qualifications
- CDA credential or enrolled to complete within one year of hire date required
- A Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education or related field from an accredited 4 year university, with at least nine (9) credits in Early Childhood Education
- Obtain CPR and First Aid certification within the first year of employment
Additional Requirements
- Prior Head Start or Pre-school experience preferred
