Job Summary
Develop positive relationships with parents and families while assisting in the planning and implementation of daily activities that stimulate learning across physical, emotional, social, and cognitive areas. Organize classroom materials, accompany children on field trips and extracurricular activities, and participate in meal preparation and cleanup. Collect observational data on enrolled children to document growth and assist in individualized planning. Orient substitute teachers and staff during absences, administer first aid or medication as needed, and maintain a clean, orderly environment. Ensure compliance with Colorado State Licensing requirements and complete required training on safety, de-escalation, and universal precautions. Enroll in and complete Child Development Associate (CDA) coursework within six months of hire.
Required Qualifications
- Must comply with all Colorado State Licensing requirements for childcare staff
- Ability to remember schedules, programs, policies, and other details
- Ability to remain calm and calm others in an emergency and/or confrontational situation
- Knowledge of the service population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and the appropriate techniques and practices for the client population
- Ability to interact effectively as a team member and independently with Agency staff and with a diverse client base
- Must be currently enrolled in, or agree to enroll in, coursework to obtain the Child Development Associate (CDA) certification. The CDA must be completed within 6 months of the hire date
- Minimum Group Leader Qualified by the Colorado Child Care Licensing Department
- Associate degree in child development/early childhood education or 3 years' experience
- Must be able to administer first aid and/or medication (with appropriate training) and/or attend to medical devices as needed
Desired Qualifications
- Those with an associate's degree or higher in ECE are excluded and those who are already Early Childhood Teacher (ECT) qualified are not required to enroll in and complete the CDA but are strongly encouraged to do so
