Job Summary
Implement a child-centered curriculum to foster positive social interaction and self-motivation for children of all abilities. Collaborate with the Lead Teacher to prepare daily lesson plans, collect anecdotes, and write observations while assessing students using Teaching Strategies Gold. Provide positive guidance to support readiness skills for kindergarten and maintain regular contact with parents through conferences and home visits. Complete appropriate documentation, manage classroom inventory, and direct developmental concerns to the Health, Nutrition and Disabilities Coordinator. Work with the teaching team to analyze child outcomes and participate in coaching and professional development training.
Required Qualifications
- Associates in Early Childhood Education
- BA/BS in Early Childhood Education
- two years of previous teaching experience
- Ability to work with children and families with special developmental, social or cultural needs
- Ability to maintain written records and manage time to ensure the completion of assigned work
- Ability to foster and maintain positive, professional relationships with participating families
- Basic computer literacy in email, Microsoft Office
- CPR and First Aid certification
- Clearance through DOI Fingerprint Screening
- NYS Central Registry clearance
- Sex Offender Registry clearance
- 3 reference checks
- physical examination with updated TB test
- Varicella
- Tdap
- MMR
- Mandated Reporter training certificate
- compliance with agency's policy and procedure regarding identification and reporting of child abuse and neglect
- First Aid/CPR and Preventive Infectious Diseases Certificate
- Meet all employee health requirements in Article 47 (DOHMH) and Head Start Performance Standards
- Ability to lift 35 pounds
