Job Summary
Assist the Lead Teacher in planning and implementing a developmentally appropriate daily program promoting children's affective, cognitive, physical, and social competence. Maintain an efficient, well-arranged classroom with interest areas, keeping equipment in good repair and sanitizing toys and cots weekly. Support children's social-emotional development through individual, small group, and large group activities, including free play and self-help training for dressing, toileting, and eating. Provide adequate supervision for active children, model proper table manners during family-style meals, and encourage daily health routines like tooth brushing and hand washing. Maintain accurate records, attend monthly staff meetings, and report any suspected child abuse immediately. Complete required training hours annually and adhere to all agency policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Education Certificate
- two (2) years work experience related to the care and development of children
- Compliance with Act 33
- documentation of Child Abuse History (Form CY-113)
- Criminal History (Form SP4-164)
- FBI fingerprinting
- Biannual physical examination
- initial TB (Mantoux) Test
- freedom from any infectious or communicable disease
- Ability to work with and relate well to young children and coworkers
- Ability to supervise adults when necessary
- Successfully complete the New Staff Orientation
- At least 18 years of age
- CPR, First Aid, AED certifications
- Child Abuse mandated reporter training within 30 days of hire date
- Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities
- Previous experience with diverse populations
- Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds
