Job Summary
Cultivate positive relationships with children, families, and co-workers while supervising and engaging youth in purposeful programming. Adhere to Washington State DCYF Licensing, Early Achievers, and YMCA standards, maintaining program records and conducting systematic observations of individual children. Maintain classroom cleanliness, organize equipment, and ensure safety protocols are followed during daily activities. Participate in family nights, staff meetings, and training sessions to support the inclusive learning environment. Demonstrate the Four Character Development Principles of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility in all interactions.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Negative TB test within the past 6 months
- MMR Vaccination
- Registered in DCYF MERIT
- Blood Borne Pathogens training
- Portable background check
- Child Abuse Prevention training
- First Aid/CPR Certifications
- Food Handlers Permit
- 30 Hours Basic Training or Educational Exemption
- Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds
- Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities
- Close and distance vision
Desired Qualifications
- Individuals working toward Early Childhood Education Certificate
- Previous experience working with children in a developmental, diverse setting
- Understands the YMCA if a public accommodation committed to inclusion and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
