Job Summary
Assist classroom teachers and lead teachers in providing excellent and nurturing care to all children in a classroom, plan and implement age-appropriate activities, maintain rosters and assist with parent sign-in/out, follow daily schedules, complete daily parent reports, prepare meals and snacks, ensure a safe environment per risk management standards, communicate with parents and team, and comply with DHS licensing requirements; involves collaborating with YMCA leadership to support the organization’s mission and providing a collaborative, cohesive approach to YMCA’s vision during staff meetings and events; requires ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks as needed.
Required Qualifications
- 18 years of age or older
- High school graduate or equivalent
- One or more years of experience working with children ages five years and younger
- Current state approved first-aid certification
- Current state approved infant/child (or community if school aged) CPR certification
- Completion of minimum STARS required training
- Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, etc.). Ability to speak any language in addition to English may be helpful.
- Must meet all other required qualifications set by DHS - child care licensing
