Job Summary
The Assistant Teacher at the College of Lake County supports the Lead Teacher in planning and facilitating activities for children ages 2-5 years and/or school-age children. Responsibilities include leading group games, songs, and activities, assisting with assessments and lesson plans, and maintaining classroom functionality. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, physical capabilities, background check completion, and certifications in CPR/First Aid and Food Service. Desired qualifications include early childhood education course work, bilingual skills, and experience working with children.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to pass the Department of Children and family Services Background check
- Provide a physical screening with a TB test
- CPR/ First Aid Certification
- Food Service Certification
- Gateways registry membership
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience working with children
- Knowledge of child development
- Some course work in early childhood education
- An Associate's degree in ECE, or 12 credit hours in Early Childhood Education (ECE), Child Development, Elementary Education, or ECE Special Education
- Bilingual in Spanish and English
