Job Summary
Assistant Swim Team Coach assists the Head Swim Team Coach or Aquatic Director with organizing, managing and daily operation of the YMCA swim team program, recruits/trains staff and volunteers, supervises facilities (pool, deck, equipment storage, locker rooms, classrooms) on-site and during program use, stays current on swim-team-related legal issues and YMCA policies, helps develop a volunteer committee to advise on program policy, communicates team policy to swimmers and parents, maintains team roster and meet achievements, pursues ongoing coaching education, attends swim-league and parents’ group meetings, participates in swim-team functions and ensures conduct; performs other duties as required.
Required Qualifications
- Education or personal experience related to swimming
- Coaching experience with competitive swimming
- Safety training for coaches
- Certified in Lifeguard training
- Adult, child and infant CPR and Community First Aid
- Must exhibit a stable temperament and a high degree of maturity
- Ability to communicate with people of all levels
- Have a positive attitude and desire to achieve the mission of the Upper Palmetto YMCA
- Walking, carrying, sitting, hearing, crouching, lifting (25lbs), pushing, kneeling, standing and speaking
