Job Summary
Coach and supervise swimmers at assigned home meets and away USA Swimming competitions, providing instruction, performance evaluation, and ensuring safety and compliance with YMCA and USA Swimming standards. Lead a minimum of three weekly swim team practices, including evening and early morning sessions, while designing training plans for athletes ranging from beginners to Nationals-level competitors. Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, and Aquatics staff regarding program operations, athlete progress, and safety incidents. Maintain pool equipment, track swimmer development, and participate in annual fundraising events alongside the Aquatics Director. Ensure all team activities adhere to YMCA policies and complete required certifications within the first 30 days.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma of GED
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must have leadership experience
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
- Strong problem-solving skills
- YMCA approved basic life saving skills such as CPR, First Aid, AED, and Emergency Oxygen
- USA Swimming certification
- Completion of the YMCA approved coach's safety training
- Ability to maintain certification-level of physical and mental readiness
- Ability to lift equipment, and to lift a small to average size child
- Visual acuity
- Ability to respond properly to medical emergency if necessary
- High levels of alertness and concentration
Desired Qualifications
- Associate degree in related field
- Three to five years of swim coaching experience
