Job Summary
Assist in leading Asheville City Schools' swim/dive program as an Assistant Swim Coach. Plan and conduct structured practices to develop swim/dive skills, strategy, and teamwork; provide individualized coaching; develop game strategies, review film, and make real-time adjustments during competitions. Cultivate leadership and sportsmanship, mentor student-athletes, and address conflicts. Organize off-season training, conditioning programs, and community engagement efforts; coordinate with athletic directors, school administration, and parents to ensure student-athletes meet academic eligibility. Manage equipment, facilities usage, and transportation logistics for away games. Requires CPR/First Aid certification and availability for evenings, weekends, and travel.
Required Qualifications
- CPR and First Aid certification
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel for games/tournaments
- Previous swim/dive experience at the high school level or higher preferred
- Knowledge of swim/dive rules, strategies, and athletes' techniques
- Strong leadership, communication, and motivational skills
- Ability to mentor and develop student-athletes both athletically and personally
- Understanding of academic eligibility requirements and compliance
