Job Summary

Create a safe, nurturing environment for youth by recognizing and addressing challenging behavior using Therapeutic Crisis Intervention training. Provide guidance and mentorship to unit staff on treatment goals, organize youth schedules, and facilitate team meetings. Supervise residential staff, including scheduling and training, while ensuring a safe and sanitary physical living environment. Manage emergency responses and adhere to funder requirements and governmental regulations. Partner with the Supervisor to delegate tasks and document decision changes. Work a variable schedule including evenings and weekends, with physical demands involving lifting, driving, and occasional restraint use.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a residential care setting
  • CPR certification
  • Unrestricted, valid NYS driver's license for minimum of 1 year with a clean driving record
  • Minimum insurance coverage that meets agency standards
  • Ability to recognize and address escalating and dysregulated youth behavior
  • Utilization of training provided in behavior management and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI)
  • Use of physical interventions (holds)
  • Must be able to work a variable scheduling including evenings and weekends
  • Occasional sitting (up to 4 hours)
  • Occasional standing (up to 2 hours)
  • Occasional walking (up to 2.5 hours)
  • Occasional driving (up to 8 hours)
  • Continuous balancing (up to 8 hours)
  • Occasional balancing, bending, stooping, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching forward or down, reaching overhead, running, and twisting (up to 2.5 hours)
  • Weekly lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • 10-15 lbs. on a daily basis
  • Weekly carrying up to 55 lbs.
  • 10-15 lbs. on a daily basis
  • Manual dexterity
  • Ability to change positions as needed
  • Ability to physically restrain clients weighing between 50 and 300 lbs.
  • Ability to guide clients safely to the floor
  • Close-toed shoes
  • Protective shields
  • Universal Precaution PPE
  • Gloves for toileting and food preparation
