Job Summary
Develop and utilize an aligned strategic plan using key measures to determine progress and opportunities for improvement. Assist with hiring, observing, mentoring, disciplining, and evaluating assigned program staff while ensuring the district's commitment to equity and excellence. Plan, develop, and implement all food and nutrition services programs, including staffing, orders, inventories, and warehouse operations. Conduct inspections of school lunch facilities to ensure standards of diet, cleanliness, health, and safety are maintained. Prepare an annual division operating budget for the Food Services Enterprise Fund and assist with developing standards for food and labor costs. Review program operations for cost effectiveness and conformance with regulations, including NSLP, SBP, CACFP, and SFSP requirements. Earn at least 10 hours of continuing education training annually and keep abreast of new ideas through professional organization participation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in food service/hospitality management, dietetics, family and consumer sciences, nutrition education, culinary arts or related field
- Bachelor's degree in any academic major, and a State recognized certificate for school nutrition supervisors (SNS)
- Bachelor's degree in any academic discipline combined with a minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the administration or management of school nutrition or large-scale food service programs
- Related training and documented experience/education and at least eight years of direct experience in school food service management and training of school nutrition programs, including Child Nutrition Program regulations (NSLP, SBP, CACFP, SFSP) and Child Nutrition Program processes (electronic inventory management, physical inventory, production records, ordering, customer service, Point of Service/Sale, managerial duties, food service worker duties, meal pattern requirements and USDA profe...
- Valid driver's license
- Motor vehicle insurance
- Thorough knowledge of the procedures, policies, practices, and methods of a multi-unit school food service operation
- Thorough knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations regarding Child Nutrition Program's operational and reporting requirements, and training documentation
- Knowledge of food and equipment specifications, warehouse and central production facility operations, basic accounting for profit and loss analysis and procurement procedures
- Ability to assist with budgeting and allocation of resources to maintain self-supporting cost-effective programs
- Ability to assist with developing and effectively administering and managing food service and nutrition programs
- Ability to develop training programs and community information services
- Excellent organizational, administrative, and supervisory abilities
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Experience using Microsoft Office and related applications with an emphasis on Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Ability to develop, monitor, and evaluate performance measures
- Demonstrates highly effective skills in human relations and written and oral communication
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and follow through to meet deadlines effectively
- Ability to lift and carry food items and objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds
- Uses personal vehicle for transportation
- Attends occasional evening and overnight meetings
- Available to various student, teacher, and community groups for education-related purposes beyond the regular workday
- Earns at least 10 hours of continuing education training annually
- Must be fingerprinted and submit to a criminal background investigation
- Must complete the Employment Eligibility Verification (Form I-9) in person before beginning employment
- Must successfully complete a drug screen
- Must report all former employers in which you may have had direct contact with minors
