Job Summary
The Student Learning Assistant provides academic learning support for students, including tutoring, conducting supplemental instruction, and assisting with daily operations of the Centers for Learning Excellence. Responsibilities include delivering individual and group instruction, leading content workshops, integrating study strategies with course content, maintaining records using required software, promoting information about academic support services, liaising with faculty and staff, participating in departmental trainings, and coordinating remote work as needed. Requires collaboration with course content instructors, supervision of part-time staff as needed, and occasional travel across the college district. Minimum education requirement is an Associate's degree or 60 earned college hours with subject-area mastery; strong communication and computer skills are essential; flexibility for evenings/weekends and travel is expected.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree OR minimum of 60 earned college hours in relevant subjects (English, political science, math, or science) with demonstrated mastery (B in 12 hours)
- Excellent oral, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends; travel within the college district as needed
- CRLA certification (preferred)
- Criminal background check required
- Valid Texas driver's license and proof of liability insurance
