Job Summary
Greet customers, handle complaints, and ensure products are in-stock while answering phones and assisting on the sales floor at least 75% of the time. Train and monitor staff on customer service, food safety certifications, and product knowledge; assign tasks, manage daily schedules, and cross-train personnel to meet store needs. Assist the Store Manager in hiring, conducting performance evaluations, granting wage increases, and addressing disciplinary issues. Manage inventory by ordering from vendors, rotating perishables, handling mark-downs, and analyzing sales metrics to maintain margins. Respond to department manager calls, handle business disruptions, and complete daily operational checklists, cash reports, and the Monthly Mgr's Report. Work a flexible schedule of up to 45 hours per week including evenings and weekends, maintaining compliance with safety guidelines and home office communications.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 1-2 years management experience in grocery and/or related retail experience
- Natural foods industry experience
- Ability to manage changing priorities
- Ability to pass applicable food safety training courses and/or testing to obtain certifications as required by state and/or county law
- Must be able to obtain forklift certification
- Maintain compliance by keeping food safety certifications up to date through continuing education and registered with the appropriate agency if applicable
- Sense of urgency in completing tasks
- Highly organized
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to take direction and follow through
- Must be cashier trained
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Outlook
- Must be able to constantly lift or carry up to 10 lbs.
- Must be able to frequently lift or carry 11-20 lbs.
- Must be able to occasionally lift or carry 21-50 lbs.
- Must be able to occasionally lift or carry 51-100 lbs. with a team lift
- Must be able to frequently push or pull up to 15 lbs.
- Must be able to occasionally push or pull 16-100 lbs.
- Must be able to occasionally use the computer for data entry and use of mouse
- Must be able to constantly walk, stand, use fine motor manipulations, grip, bend, twist, turn, and reach outward for the duration of the work shift
- Must be able to frequently reach above chest
- Must be able to occasionally sit, squat, kneel, and climb as needed
- Must be able to frequently work with sharp tools and equipment, dust, fumes, and congested worksite
- Must be able to occasionally work with noise, cold, heat, wet, humid, outside, heights, and contact stress
