Job Summary
Oversee assigned operations or customer service duties within a full-service MVN retail nursery, ensuring maximum sales and profitability through merchandising, inventory control, and expense management. Act as the acting GM and key-holder during absences, supervising staff while maintaining safety standards, conducting audits, and resolving employee or customer grievances. Manage nursery production, maintenance, and organization, control loss and shrinkage, and train personnel in safety protocols including heat, vehicle, and pesticide handling. Assist with administrative functions, POS transactions, and logistics, proposing innovative ideas to increase market share. Work independently outdoors in various conditions, handling complaints and driving sales through direct staff motivation and feedback.
Required Qualifications
- At least 2 years of experience in retail operations
- At least 1 year in supervisory or lead role
- BS or the equivalent experience
- Subject to MVR and criminal background check
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in a retail, nursery, landscaping, or related environment preferred
- Solid management skills along with a basic understanding of HR and sales fundamentals
- Understanding of sales and operations planning process, demand forecasting and marketing
- Excellent customer relation and interpersonal skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Self-directed and motivated, and able to act in an entrepreneurial fashion
- Ability to work independently to complete specific tasks and meet inflexible deadlines
- Ability to collect information/facts, draw valid conclusions, and effectively resolve concerns/conflicts
- Aptitude in decision-making and problem solving
- Ability to work well with others and be a leader
- Basic computer skills including experience with POS systems, and MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
- Strong time management, attention to detail, and follow through
- Strong organizational skills and ability to coordinate multiple projects/activities simultaneously
