Job Summary
Assistant Store Manager – Merchandising supports the Store Manager in leading merchandising, store conditioning, and team functions within an At Home store. Drives store operations to achieve sales and profitability while ensuring in-stock conditions, visual integrity, and a customer-focused shopping experience. Leads and develops the Zone Lead team, coaches and trains staff, manages staffing to labor model, oversees merchandising transitions and sign/storage organization, and ensures compliance with policies and laws. Emphasizes teamwork, accountability, and results, with focus on inventory control, loss prevention, safety, and delivering exceptional in-store experiences; requires high school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree preferred) and 3+ years of leadership in a big-box/high-volume retail environment.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant leadership experience in a big-box and/or high-volume retail environment
- Proven experience leading teams of 20+ Team Members and managing a minimum of $5M in annual revenue or budget
- Knowledge of freight processes, inventory control, stocking, and merchandising
- Strong communication skills, including verbal, written, and comprehension
- Proven ability to analyze data and leverage insights to make informed business decisions and drive performance
- Customer-focused mindset with a track record of delivering exceptional in-store experience
- Proven ability to build and sustain a collaborative, engaging and high-performing team culture
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
- Experience utilizing task management, HRIS, and workforce scheduling systems
- Ability to inspire teams, drive urgency, delegate effectively, and motivate high-performing teams
- Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays, based on business needs
