Job Summary
Assistant Store Manager – Merchandising supports the Store Manager in leading merchandising, store conditioning, and team functions within an At Home store. Drives store operations to achieve sales and profit goals, leads and develops the Zone Lead team, ensures in-stock conditions, maintains visual integrity, and fosters a positive, inclusive and safe work environment. Key duties include recruiting and developing talent, coaching and training teams, managing staffing and payroll accuracy, planning merchandising transitions and signage, ensuring safety, loss prevention, and customer satisfaction, communicating through regular huddles, and adhering to company policies and regulations. Requires high school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s preferred) and 3+ years of leadership experience in a big-box retail setting; strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and workforce scheduling systems; ability to lead a 20+ person team and manage $5M+ in revenue; and a focus on data-driven decisions and exceptional in-store execution.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant leadership experience in a big-box and/or high-volume retail environment
- Proven experience leading teams of 20+ Team Members and managing a minimum of $5M in annual revenue or budget
- Knowledge of freight processes, inventory control, stocking, and merchandising
- Demonstrated integrity, reliability, and commitment to ethical business practices
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
- Experience utilizing task management, HRIS, and workforce scheduling systems
- Strong communication skills, including verbal, written, and comprehension
- Ability to inspire teams, drive urgency, delegate effectively, and motivate high-performing teams
- Skilled in prioritizing, multitasking, and adapting to changing business needs
- Proven ability to analyze data and leverage insights to make informed business decisions and drive performance
- Customer-focused mindset with a track record of delivering exceptional in-store experience
- Proven ability to build and sustain a collaborative, engaging and high-performing team culture
