Assistant Store Manager

Job Summary

Support the daily operation of the branch by assisting with management, team leadership, customer service, inventory control, and sales execution. Monitor operational performance, identify improvement opportunities, and communicate sales goals and objectives to team members. Assist the Store Manager in achieving branch sales, profitability, and customer satisfaction targets, while assuming leadership responsibilities during the Store Manager's absence. Manage inventory through ordering, receiving, replenishment, and stock control, ensuring accurate audits and organized warehouse, showroom, and yard environments. Recruit, interview, hire, and train team members; coach employees to improve performance and foster a positive, safe work environment. Conduct safety inspections, enforce OSHA regulations, and ensure proper PPE usage. Collaborate with the Inside Sales team to drive revenue growth and maintain strong relationships with contractors, builders, and homeowners.

  • Previous Assistant Store Manager, Store Manager, or supervisory experience
  • Experience with inventory management, merchandising, sales operations, and customer service
  • Experience preparing estimates, material take-offs, or supporting contractor sales
  • Construction, lumber, building materials, or industrial distribution experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP/business software systems
  • Knowledge of branch operations, sales planning, and operational reporting
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform physical tasks throughout the workday
  • Ability to lift and handle materials as needed (up to 50 pounds)
  • Ability to work extended hours, including evenings or weekends, based on business needs
  • Comfortable working in both office and operational environments, including warehouse and yard areas

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous Assistant Store Manager, Store Manager, or supervisory experience preferred
  • Experience with inventory management, merchandising, sales operations, and customer service
  • Experience preparing estimates, material take-offs, or supporting contractor sales is preferred
  • Construction, lumber, building materials, or industrial distribution experience preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP/business software systems
  • Knowledge of branch operations, sales planning, and operational reporting is preferred
