Job Summary
Oversee day-to-day store operations for the Fresh department and related areas as Assistant Store Director – Fresh. Responsible for employee relations, events, weekly sales execution, cost control, and efficient labor utilization. Ensure a positive shopping experience and a positive work environment. Lead perishable department managers, monitor hiring and scheduling in their areas, manage labor costs to meet budgets, and ensure staff training on policies and procedures. Maintain safe, sanitary, and compliant store conditions; manage merchandising, loss prevention, and departmental appearance; communicate with corporate directors on vendor/product issues; drive customer service excellence and cross-functional teamwork. Must be capable of reading financial statements, adapting to a high-volume retail environment, and taking initiative to resolve problems. Strong leadership, planning, and organizational skills with proficiency in MS Office are required.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years professional experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred
- Knowledge of health department guidelines and regulations in grocery retail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Ability to lead, train, and develop staff
- Financial acumen including budgeting and labor cost management
- Strong operations and merchandising knowledge
- Customer service excellence
- Ability to interpret financial statements and drive results
