Job Summary
Supports the classroom and Resource/IEP goals by working with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning and help them achieve and maintain skill levels. Assists with classroom management and implements student-specific behavior plans as directed, including addressing special health care needs. Performs duties such as preparing learning environments, accompanying students to general education and special area classes, participating in training (e.g., Nonviolent Crisis Intervention), supervising students during drills, and collecting data as directed by the supervising teacher. Requires ability to relate well to students, staff, parents, and volunteers; prior classroom experience preferred but not required. Educational requirement is a high school diploma or GED, with advanced work in special education preferred; no certification required.
