Job Summary
Support the Tournament Director in all aspects of event planning and execution for the All-Ripken Games softball tournament in Cooperstown. Oversee daily operational oversight of fields, schedules, staffing, and game flow while serving as a key on-site decision-maker for operational issues. Enforce tournament rules, roster guidelines, and safety protocols by communicating inning limits, time limits, and tie-breaker procedures to coaches and umpires. Supervise Field Coordinators and seasonal staff, providing direction to coaches regarding expectations and player management. Act as a primary communication liaison between Operations, coaches, umpires, vendors, and facility partners to manage event platforms and daily updates. Address player, coach, or parent concerns with professionalism and empathy while ensuring adherence to All-Ripken standards for instruction and sportsmanship. Assist with score reporting, standings verification, and post-event feedback to support continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
- High School Head Coaching experience
- College coaching experience
- College or professional playing experience
- Strong understanding of baseball/softball rules, tournament formats, and game operations
- Proven leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, live-event environment
- Requires availability for multi-day events, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience as a Tournament Director, Assistant Director, or Field Coordinator
- Experience with showcase, all-star, or large-scale youth sports events
- Background in athlete development, evaluation, or event operations
