Job Summary
Open and close the site, maintain a clean and orderly space, and ensure the safety, security, and well-being of enrolled students. Perform administrative duties in the Site Director's absence for up to five consecutive days, including supervising day-to-day program activities and assisting with student-staff ratios. Manage distance learning devices, collect electronic attendance, and develop age-specific clubs, activities, and curriculum. Communicate daily with parents and act as a role model while providing overall staff direction when the Site Director is unavailable. Work at least 80% of program hours on Monday through Friday PM shifts in San Diego County schools.
Required Qualifications
- 18 years of age
- 48 completed college units OR pass the District's Classroom Assistant Proficiency Exam
- minimum of 6 completed units in child development, elementary and/or middle school education, recreation or related field OR a minimum of 6 months documented work experience in an ASES program
- minimum of 1 year experience working in an after school or group childcare setting with elementary aged children
- Demonstrated ability in sports, special interests, hobbies, and/or arts and crafts
- Ability to relate well to children and adults
- Valid CPR and First Aid certification
- Valid TB results
- Must receive Fingerprint Clearance
- Ability to actively supervise and roam designated areas at all times to ensure a direct line of sight of all students
- Standing, walking, and moving for extended periods of time throughout the shift
- Ability to promptly follow and safely return the student to their designated area in the case of elopement
- Ability to operate a vehicle
- High energy needed with the ability to balance multiple high-stress tasks
- Ability to work in noisy and outdoors environment
- Ability to travel throughout the county with the flexibility required to meet job duties
- Ability to lift and carry up to twenty pounds
- Ability to operate a computer
- Must be able to work at least 80% of all program hours
