Job Summary
Assist with daily field and facility maintenance, including turf grooming, building repairs, and general upkeep for three baseball fields. Support operations for youth baseball and softball events, managing front office duties, food access initiatives, and farmers market logistics. Perform security patrols, enforce property rules, and respond to disturbances or emergencies while submitting comprehensive reports. Maintain order and ensure a safe environment for visitors, guests, and employees in compliance with DC Code and company policies. This part-time role requires 25-30 hours weekly and may involve weekend or evening coverage for essential staffing.
Required Qualifications
- Must have U.S. work authorization
- Must possess SOMB Special Police Officer license or acquire within 45 days of start date
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
- Must be able to walk long distances
- Must be able to climb up/down stairs
- Must be able to stoop
- Must be able to kneel
- Must be able to crouch
- Must be able to sit
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in fast-paced environment

- Game-day experience with turf baseball field maintenance
- Experience working in a child friendly environment
- Good communications skills (interpersonal, verbal, written)
- Ability to troubleshoot in certain areas for repairs and maintenance issue
- Prior experience working with hand and power tools
- Previous manual labor experience
- Familiarity with synthetic turf field care
- Ability to perform protective and enforcement functions when coping with undesired behavior, disturbance, crime, threats of life and property
- Ability to perform duties in a courteous, professional and restrained manner
- Ability to comply with provisions of the District of Columbia Code, Sections 4-114 and 4-115
- Ability to ensure that trespassers and undesirable individuals are kept off of the property
- Ability to take recommended action to deal with undesired conduct and law violations in compliance with established policy
- Ability to make no mistaken accusations
- Ability to take immediate and appropriate action in responding to emergencies, situations and events
- Ability to submit well-written and comprehensive reports setting forth facts of complaints, observations, actions taken and investigative findings
- Ability to advise the Security Coordinator, Senior Director of Operations of all activities that would be of interest, importance or concern regarding the property or any activity at the Academy
- Ability to complete all duties as otherwise assigned in a timely and professional manner
- Ability to assist with daily field and facility maintenance during the week
- Ability to perform field turf grooming
- Ability to perform on-field maintenance for the three baseball fields
- Ability to perform general facility/building repairs and maintenance
- Ability to assist with internal and external events at the Academy occasionally on the weekend
- Ability to assist with operations duties to support athletic partners, Nationals RBI, Hustle Baseball and Softball programs and events
- Ability to assist with on occasions front office duties during Academy Base Programming
- Ability to assist with the setup, execution, and breakdown of Academy food access initiatives
- Ability to support weekly farmers market operations
- Ability to assist with food access facility operations
- Ability to perform kitchen preparation
- Ability to perform equipment setup
- Ability to perform storage organization
