Assistant Security Manager

Job Summary
Oversee day-to-day security operations across the hotel, ensuring the safety of guests, staff, visitors, and assets while maintaining a visible, reassuring presence. Respond professionally to incidents and emergencies, lead emergency procedures, and investigate events with accurate reporting. Support the Security Manager by allocating duties, coaching team members, and fostering a service-minded security culture. Monitor CCTV, access control, and alarms; conduct regular risk assessments, inspections, and drills to identify vulnerabilities and implement preventive measures. Liaise with local authorities, ensure compliance with legislation and policies, and collaborate with Front Office, Engineering, and other departments to balance security needs with the brand's welcoming atmosphere.
Required Qualifications
- Valid work rights/work authorisation for South Africa
- Legally eligible to work in the country where the role is based
- Strong hotel security experience
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience within a security operation
- Confident managing incidents calmly and professionally under pressure
- Strong knowledge of security procedures, emergency response and risk management
- Strong communication skills
- Professional, discreet and trusted with sensitive information
- Ability to balance security, safety and exceptional guest service
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, energetic environment and be hands-on
Desired Qualifications
- Pre-opening experience
- Experience with lifestyle, luxury or design-led hospitality brands
- Strong knowledge of local security regulations and emergency procedures
- First Aid / Fire Safety / relevant security certifications
- Experience working with police, civil defence or other local authorities
- Ability to be calm when things get complicated and always think one step ahead
