Job Summary
Assist Safety Director in managing a 24/7 safety program at a Brooklyn transitional housing shelter for men with diagnosed mental illnesses. Lead safety staff, recruit and orient new hires, ensure adequate coverage, plan team meetings and provide supervision, support training activities, and prepare administrative incident reports. Serve as Fire and Safety Director in the Safety Director’s absence. Requires NYS Security Guard License (F-02) and FDNY F-80, High School diploma or equivalent, and minimum 3 years of security with supervisory experience. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred; ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends. Competitive benefits include health insurance, PTO, 401(k), and more.
Required Qualifications
- New York State Security Guard License, F-02, and FDNY F-80 required.
- High School Diploma or equivalent OR equivalent experience and skills.
- Minimum of three years of security experience in a shelter environment, as well as prior supervisory experience.
- Capacity to work with people experiencing homelessness and mental illness or other disadvantaged people.
- Strong customer service orientation and ability to skillfully manage interpersonal relationships.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Computer literacy with Microsoft applications.
- Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as needed.
