Job Summary
Coach interscholastic athletic programs by supervising student safety and conduct during practices, events, and trips while instilling sportsmanship and maintaining high standards of personal conduct. Motivate students to enhance school spirit and morale through a philosophy of excellence, ensuring discipline is maintained in all phases of activities. Prepare and implement annual plans for practices and events, communicating regularly with administration, students, and parents regarding progress and any required assistance. Maintain all necessary forms, reports, and inventories to safeguard school district property, while working cooperatively with other coaches and staff members. Hold valid coaching authorization and a Board-approved contract, providing a physical examination certificate if assigned as a non-teaching coach.
Required Qualifications
- To possess and utilize a sound base of knowledge of the sport(s) to which the coach is assigned.
- To hold valid coaching authorization issued by the Iowa Department of Education.
- To hold a valid coaching contract approved by the Board of Education.
- To provide, in instances of assignment as a non-teaching coach, a certificate of physical examination.
