Job Summary
In this role you will be solely responsible for running the Burgess Hill store in a part-time capacity, overseeing store operations, maximizing sales through effective display and stock management, coaching volunteers and staff to engage customers, promoting Gift Aid and donations, and ensuring adherence to Marie Curie procedures. The position requires lone working, a customer-first approach, and the ability to manage volunteers while maintaining health and safety standards. The role includes managing the store in the absence of the Retail Manager, recruitment and supervision of volunteers, and delivering community engagement to drive repeat business and donations.
Required Qualifications
- Previous retail experience, preferably in fashion/clothing
- Experience of cash handling and financial management procedures (including completion of sales records)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer-first attitude and the ability to communicate with tact and discretion
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
- Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload, balancing competing demands
- Understanding of health and safety procedures in a retail environment
- Experience in managing and motivating volunteers is desirable
