Job Summary
As an Assistant Retail Manager at Marie Curie’s London (Belsize Park) store, you will support the Retail Manager in maximizing sales, maintaining high standards of display and stock presentation, and overseeing donated goods with Gift Aid administration. You’ll coach volunteers and staff to engage customers, drive donations, and promote loyalty schemes, while ensuring store operations run smoothly in a part-time role (14 hours/week) with lone-working requirements. Responsibilities include merchandising, cash handling, maintaining health and safety standards, recruiting and guiding volunteers, and acting as the store lead in the Retail Manager’s absence. The role emphasizes customer-first service, community engagement, and adherence to Marie Curie procedures and guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- Previous retail experience, preferably in fashion/clothing
- Experience of cash handling and financial management procedures (including completion of sales records)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer-first attitude and the ability to communicate with tact and discretion
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
- Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload, balancing competing demands
- Understanding of health and safety procedures in a retail environment
- Experience in managing and motivating volunteers is desirable
