Job Summary
Provide supervision, instruction, and guidance to individuals in activities of daily living while assisting the Residential Manager in staff oversight and new employee orientation. Accurately administer medications, assess medically related situations, and respond to crisis situations and medical emergencies. Monitor residence maintenance, ensure compliance with regulations, and maintain continuity of medical, behavioral, and financial records. Participate in on-call rotation for 24-hour accessibility, facilitate weekly staff meetings, and oversee transportation and mileage. Complete all required paperwork and assist in budget oversight.
Required Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- At least two (2) years practical experience working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities
- Associates degree or successful completion of at least (60) hours of college study in human services field
- At least one (1) year of practical experience with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities
- Bachelor's degree in Human Services or related field
- Six (6) months of experience working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities
- Possession a valid NYS Driver's license
- A driver's record considered acceptable by agency and insurance carrier
- Continuous use of a reliable, registered and insured vehicle
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Previous experience working with diverse populations, including low to moderate-income families
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize duties
- Ability to travel in all weather conditions throughout the counties served
- Willingness to foster agency, department and program wide cooperation and team work through use of positive/constructive communication techniques
- Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality in regards to all records reviewed including consumer records, employee records and billing records
- Proficiency and experience with PC's and Microsoft applications
- Ability to analyze and interpret data and to handle problem resolution
- Demonstrate full adherence to the CCCS Code of Conduct and all policies/procedures related to compliance
- Demonstrate commitment to Agency Mission Statement
- Provide effective, equitable, understandable and respectful quality care and services that are responsive to diverse cultural health beliefs and practices, preferred languages, health literacy and other communication needs
- Use hands to manipulate, handle, feel, and control items or equipment, including motor vehicle
- Stand, sit, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach
- Climb up or down stairs
- Able to reach above or below shoulders
- Occasionally lift or move objects weighing up to 25 lbs
- Occasionally be required to perform or assist with Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention (SCIP) techniques
- Sitting at a desk or in a vehicle for long periods of time to perform certain job functions
- Be able to read write and interpret written documents
