Job Summary
Assistant Resident Engineer role focusing on marine engineering projects in Abu Dhabi. Responsibilities include performing detailed engineering analysis for marine systems, propulsion, and structural components; gathering and analyzing marine data to support design decisions; developing and reviewing technical drawings and specifications using CAD/marine design tools; conducting marine systems testing and performance evaluations; proposing innovative approaches and identifying discrepancies with corrective actions; providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers; managing tasks within budgets and schedules with minimal supervision; independently delivering primary design elements and technical documentation for marine engineering works; ensuring compliance with maritime regulations and international standards (IMO, ABS, DNV) and organizational quality requirements; collaboration with project managers, clients, and stakeholders to meet project goals; requires a Bachelor's degree (or related) and 4+ years of experience; preferred qualifications include a Master's degree, PE registration, advanced propulsion/hydrodynamics knowledge, regulatory expertise, GIS proficiency, project management experience, willingness to travel, and commitment to professional development; Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location is required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
- 4+ years of professional experience in marine engineering, vessel design, or related maritime projects
- Proficiency in CAD software and marine design tools
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within team environments
- Valid professional identification and eligibility to work in the United Arab Emirates
