Job Summary
Plan, organize, and supervise daily activity programming for residents in a long-term care setting, ensuring activities meet physical, emotional, intellectual, community, spiritual, and social needs. Lead and coach recreation staff, document on a timely basis, participate in care conferences, ensure daily charting and MDS-related forms, and coordinate services with other departments to enhance residents’ quality of life. Requires strong communication, organizational, and leadership abilities, and knowledge of aging, activity standards, and regulatory requirements. Willmar, MN-based role with on-site work and flexible weekend coverage as needed; full-time.
Required Qualifications
- Basic Activity Education Course
- two-years of current work experience in Activity department of a long-term care facility
- three to five years of geriatric activity experience preferred
- strong communication skills
- public speaking
- organizational skills
- ability to motivate and empower staff
- ability to evaluate needs and affect change based on objective criteria
- excellent written communication skills
- knowledge of computers
- knowledge of Federal and State regulations governing long-term care activity programs
- knowledge of professional activity standards
- knowledge of volunteerism
